This year’s Flyniversary started well early in the evening, at about 4pm with Couple as the opening act. I only managed to get to the venue at about 7.30pm due to the downpour which lasted from 5pm till 8.30pm. Anyways, even with the heavy rain, the crowd were still standing in front of the stage, entertained by performers like Shila (OIAM), James Baum and also One Buck Short.
VIP ticket holders got to have dinner and drinks at the special VIP tent while waiting for the second part of the event to start at 8pm, with Caprice being the first performer on stage. He brought along Annatasha for the first song, Thinking Of You. For more pictures, do check out http://www.lifeinkl.com/2009/11/21/4th-flyniversary-pictures/
DigiMusic Live was postponed due to Tyson (the vocalist) having an accident but The All-American Rejects did come back to perform after Tyson recovered and they were well rewarded for it.
The event was supposed to be held at Central Park Avenue, 1 Utama but the postponement caused the event to be relocated to the car park of the Bukit Jalil stadium instead. Both venues were good locations for this event but I reckon the Bukit Jalil had the upper hand of being just next to the LRT station (which had extended its operating hours to 12:30am that night).
Approximately 10,000 fans packed the venue that night, some coming even as early as 12 in the afternoon to book the front row location. There was a long snaking line from the entrance of the fenced up crowd area at about 6pm. If you were hungry, you could get some food from the stalls outside, or even inside, as there was a Pizza Hut stall inside.
The DiGi Music LIVE Concert that has been postponed due to The All-American Rejects‘ lead singer’s accident will be happening this coming weekend, 31st October 2009 at the Car Park A of the Bukit Jalil Outdoor Stadium (same venue as the other Bukit Jalil gigs).
Of course, The All American Rejects will be the headlining act, but our local boys, Disagree, Pop Shuvit and One Buck Short will be the opening bands on that day. Show will start at 6pm onwards, expected to end around 10pm, just in time to catch the LRT home before it stops operating.
How to attend? Well, this is a free event, but you will need tickets. You can head over to the DiGi Music Unlimited counters at GSC 1 Utama, TGV escalator at Sunway Pyramid, or at the Lifestyle Avenue at Sungei Wang Plaza.
Customers who have collected their free concert tickets for the October 10th event do not need to exchange them for new ones.
For more information, you can head over to the official website at http://www.digimusic.com.my/live/index.html
Catch Part 1 and Part 2 as well.
More hardcore action for the night as Restraint continued the event. I don’t know whether there was a circle pit going as requested by the vocalist, but I was sure of constant moshing during Restraint’s set. The stage lighting was fully turned on and I could snap brighter and more vivid pictures to fully reflect the mood of the event.
The Rhythm of Unity concert was set to improve ties between Malaysia and Indonesia but what turned out was really unexpected.
The event was supposed to start at 5pm and when we got to the venue at 4pm, the stage was still being constructed halfway. Rumor has it that the organisers could not afford to pay the second payment after the stage has been built, prompting the stage company to deconstruct the stage. The organisers then managed to contact another event company for the stage to be built on Saturday afternoon itself, just before the event starts.
Luck was not on their side though as it started to rain at around 6.30pm, just before the lighting and main speakers could be lifted up to be secured on the main boom. The heavy thunderstorm roared for 2 hours before finally giving way. It took the stage crew another 2 hours
The night then continued with The Times, playing Singapura Ke Kuala Lumpur, among others.
Celcom’s University of X will be organising their second U.O.X. Play event at BB Plaza Rooftop this time on the 13th of December 2008. It will start from 5pm until midnight. There will be 2 bands from Indonesia who will be the highlight of the event, and they are The S.I.G.I.T. and White Shoes & The Couples Company (or WSTCC for short, check out our article on them previously, http://www.lifeinkl.com/2008/05/19/white-shoes-and-the-couples-company/).
Besides the 2 invited bands, our local bands will be performing as well. Bands include Bittersweet, Butterfingers, Bunkface, Stonebay, Bus Company, Tempered Mental, Seven, Laila’s Lounge
Fly FM held their 3rd anniversary birthday bash at Central Park, 1Utama this year. They also held their 2nd anniversary at the same venue last year (of which I attended as well). They were nice enough to provide me with some media passes, allowing me to venture around all areas around the stage and the VIP area as well.
This event is also sponsored by Magnum, and there were those blow up bangers which had Magnum branding on them as well. Security this year was also helped out by
Do check out Part 1 (http://www.lifeinkl.com/2008/10/24/kami-the-concert-part-1/) of the KAMI The Concert event coverage if you have missed it. This is part 2 and the final part, part 3 will be out real soon.
Helmy, one of the emcees, who lost his voice later in the night.
Kugiran Malaya took stage right after Koffin Kanser. Nas-T (Abu from the KAMI TV series and movie) was on stage, manning the DJ decks. They were also promoting the ‘Super Sunday’ t-shirts, featuring 2 lightning slashes, in pink and blue.
We went to Ruums to attend the Levis 501 Live Unbuttoned event right after the Xfresh X-gig (read more here: http://www.lifeinkl.com/2008/08/31/x-gig-zouk-kl/) in Zouk. We saw the media registration desk and registered ourselves to get some media passes. After registration, the PR girls gave us some freebies and VIP tags instead of just mere media passes.
