By now, I’m sure most of you out there will know who Liyana Fizi is. If you don’t, here’s a short one for you. Liyana Fizi is a female singer-songwriter who plays the guitar and sings jazzy, lounge and acoustic music with a tinge of bossa-nova. With a very sweet voice to go with it as well.
She was the ex-frontwoman of the now-defunct band, Estrella, which had quite a heavy following in the local music scene when they were around a couple of years back. They also managed to release a self-titled debut album with quite a couple of hits including Stay and Ternyata, among others.
Rock The World 9 was held at the Bukit Jalil Stadium Carpark on the 26th of December 2009, or also known as Boxing Day. The event was originally supposed to be held at Sunway Lagoon on the 19th of December, but things did not go as planned, hence the venue and date change.
If you might have noticed from the event flyers section, the Radio Rosak Grand Finale was also supposed to be held on the same day, but at Stadium Negara instead. It also faced some nasty hiccups along the way and had to postponed instead. From what I heard, it is scheduled to be held sometime during in March 2010.

In this part, I will concentrate on some of the bands which performed at the Indie and Chillout stage, the smaller stages at this year’s Rock The World event. The Indie Stage started out earlier in the morning, at around 11am, with Kyoto Protocol taking the honors of being the first band to perform.

Rock The World 8 was held at the car park of Stadium Merdeka on the 20th of December 2008. There wasn’t any Rock The World at 2007, so this Rock The World was somewhat very much anticipated by everyone.
Well, not really ‘everyone’, judging from the number of comments on the Junk Blog, until Jason Lo actually came around to post some comments there as well. Most of the criticism was about the line up, some saying how stale it was, some saying that most of the bands are ‘cronies’
KAMI The Concert is the final leg of the KAMI The Gig nationwide tour and was held at the Bukit Jalil car park on the 18th of October 2008. It was supposed to start at 1.30pm and end at approximately 10:30pm.
ah_mei and I promptly arrived at the venue at 1.30pm after having a short lunch. Upon entering the car park, the car park attendant asked us whether we were attending the Global Peace event or the KAMI Concert. We were a bit confused as
The 2nd Rantai Merdeka is a three-day-festival which was held at Jaya One, just along Jalan University. It is a great arts festival fully packed with local arts, film, poetry and music.Although it is a three-day event, we only went for the last day as we wanted to see Estrella perform.
T-shirt booths are becoming the norm these days at local gigs and events. Besides selling t-shirts, they sell fashion accessories, buttons, shoes, and even cupcakes. All designed and
I am a avid reader of ifeel, a Chinese magazine focusing on Malaysian fashion and beauty. It was such a coincidence that I managed to saw the Sloggi promotion as I seldom turn to promotions page. Well I know what catches my eyes, yes, the inner wear models!
Mocca is finally coming to Malaysia!! After hearing them through some downloads a few years ago and on their ‘Colours’ album which I managed to purchase when I was visiting Bali last year, I can finally watch them performing live.
Quote from Inthebox Records website:
Mocca’s dream of going international is now turning reality and fans from Malaysia will have the chance to hear them live in their show this coming August. There will be a couple of bands performing alongside Mocca at every stop of their Malaysian tour, the main event being the one at Zouk, KL. Guest bands for the Zouk venue will be Estrella, Funky Doryz, Apple Juice, The Rahman, The Fridays, Robot Asmara. Decma & The Could Have Been,
