Catch Part 1 and Part 2 as well.
More hardcore action for the night as Restraint continued the event. I don’t know whether there was a circle pit going as requested by the vocalist, but I was sure of constant moshing during Restraint’s set. The stage lighting was fully turned on and I could snap brighter and more vivid pictures to fully reflect the mood of the event.
Pretty much all the information is in the flyer!
Rockaway 2009 continued into the evening with Cassandra, another band serving up heavy metal to the hungry crowd, providing them with more reasons to mosh. Catch part 1 of Rockaway 2009 here http://www.lifeinkl.com/2009/07/28/rockaway-part-1/
Rockaway 2009 was held last month, on the 20th of June 2009 at Capsquare. Upon arriving at noon time, the crowd was already huge! The venue was a bit too small for the amount of people who attended. Well, there was also Pesta Malam Indonesia 3 happening at Bukit Jalil, but all those who came to Rockaway show their spirits and supports for our local acts. Kudos!
The audience area was shaped like a funnel, where a long road led to a medium-sized area in front of the stage. The stage as really huge and tall, allowing people at the back to see what was happening on top of stage.
Car Crash Hearts was nearly ending their set as I entered the VIP area situated just to the right side of the audience area (slightly elavated, allowing a better view). Even though being the first and opening band for the event, the crowd was already hyped out and wanted more from them.
Rockaway 2009 will be a heck of a concert and is being organised by One Buck Short in collaboration with Jack n’ Jill Rollercoaster. The line up is really great as all the heavy hitters of the music industry such as Bittersweet, Pop Shuvit, One Buck Short, Love Me Butch, Bunkface, SevenCollar T-shirt, Couple, and Pesawat will be performing.
The best part? It’s FREEEEEEEEEEE. Yes, 9 great hours of music for just RM0.00. You just have to present yourself at Capsquare on the 20th of June at 1pm to witness it all. To make it even sweeter, the first 1000 attendees will receive complimentary goodie bags. There will definitely be a free t-shirt inside along with some snacks.
There will be an after party featuring Twilight Action Girl too.

The festival is organised by popular Malaysian band One Buck Short, who were inspired to offer local independent rock bands the opportunity to showcase their latest music to the public. The band was recently named the Voize Independent Music Award’s Best Rock Group and has opened for international bands like My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy.

First and foremost, before you start wasting your time reading this post, I would just like to say that this event was a total disaster. It was a total waste of time and money to anyone who paid RM38/RM45 for the tickets. It was a pure letdown to everyone, audience and band members (especially Steven & CoconutTreez who flew all the way down to play for us)
Finally, Steven & CoconutTreez comes to Malaysia! This is an event not to be missed by anyone, yes, ANYONE. Just listening to the tunes of Steven & CoconutTreez makes you feel so relaxed and happy. Not convinced? Go check out Welcome To My Paradise at YouTube. Or Kembali.
Besides Steven & CoconutTreez, our local bands are performing there as well. You will get to catch OAG, Republic of Brickfields, Bittersweet, Pure Vibracion, Rivernation, Skudap Skudip, Plague of Happiness, Whimsical, Redemption, Priority and Maddame.
Venue: CapSquare, KL
Date: 29th November 2008
Tickets: RM38 presale/RM45 at door
Steven & CoconutTreez will be performing a 2 hour set (which I presume they will be the last band playing) and the supporting bands will be performing for 30 minutes each.
After listening to both their albums, The Other Side and Easy Going for 2 years, we definitely are going for this show. You can’t miss this one!
