It was not really a battle of Hujan versus Bunkface but it was more of a collaboration between the two local heavy weights. It was a 2 day affair, which was held over the weekend of the 10th and 11th of July 2010 at KL Live.
It was a night of chaos, in a good way, as Hujan and Bunkface took turns to play songs from each others repertoire. Hujan was situated on the left side of the stage while Bunkface were positioned on the right.
It’s on! Malaysia’s 2 hottest bands, Bunkface and Hujan are gonna play together in 1 venue. As they will be the only bands playing, you can expect a full set (10-15 songs) from each band.
The event will be on for 2 days, namely the 10th and 11th of July 2010 at the KL Live Center. Concert starts at 8.30pm and tickets costs RM50 (that will be a cheap RM25 per band!).
You can purchase your tickets online at http://ticket2u.biz/
See ya there!
This is the second part of the 2-part coverage. Check out the coverage of the Indie and Chillout stage here: http://www.lifeinkl.com/2010/01/09/rock-the-world-9-indie/. The heavy afternoon rain forced most of us to take shelter in the media tent, foregoing performances by bands such as Blind Tribe (they were playing when the rain started, and continued playing), Saturnine, Yuna and Disagree.
There was the usual local clothing labels around the venue, this on in particular, the newer Envelove, who stocks the famous Badger (from Bandung, Indonesia) brand.
Republic of Brickfields is no stranger to the local music scene and is a staple band at the Rock The World series (no Koffin Kanser this year though). Recently, they opened for Search at Mon’t Kiara and today, they had a real surprise in store for fans.

Notes: Disagree played just as the rain stopped, allowing me to walk around the stage and snap photos.
Notes: Yuna is fun and easy to shoot as she doesn’t move around so much. Attention has to be taken so that you capture her while her eyes are open or is looking outward towards the crowd.
Notes: The lighting was interesting when Faizal Tahir was performing.
Notes: It started to pour heavier while Estranged was playing, allowing me to only take photos from the right side of the stage. Couldn’t get a close up of Din or walk far enough to zoom over the stage to photograph Azwin.
Notes: Pijie has an interesting t-shirt! Bittersweet is one really interesting band as they rarely move around the stage while performing. Easy to snap, but you won’t get many action or dynamic pictures. Pijie on the other hand, has really interesting poses and facial expressions (which DOES NOT suit the music the band plays at all! Hah!).
Notes: The band members move around the stage every now and then allowing more action shots. The bassist tend to get close to the edge of the stage, allowing more wide angle shots. Interesting band to shoot.
I like to get 2 or more band members in one shot while using my 70-200 lens.
This year’s Flyniversary started well early in the evening, at about 4pm with Couple as the opening act. I only managed to get to the venue at about 7.30pm due to the downpour which lasted from 5pm till 8.30pm. Anyways, even with the heavy rain, the crowd were still standing in front of the stage, entertained by performers like Shila (OIAM), James Baum and also One Buck Short.
VIP ticket holders got to have dinner and drinks at the special VIP tent while waiting for the second part of the event to start at 8pm, with Caprice being the first performer on stage. He brought along Annatasha for the first song, Thinking Of You. For more pictures, do check out http://www.lifeinkl.com/2009/11/21/4th-flyniversary-pictures/
Rockaway 2009 continued into the evening with Cassandra, another band serving up heavy metal to the hungry crowd, providing them with more reasons to mosh. Catch part 1 of Rockaway 2009 here http://www.lifeinkl.com/2009/07/28/rockaway-part-1/
The 2009 My Stereo Rocks was also held at Zouk, similar to the 2008 one. The exciting thing about this one is that one of their official partners were RTM and that REVENGE will be performing their last and final set during the event before they go into a rest (well, according to their MySpace, but heck, they will be performing at SEARCH‘s final leg of their tour at Mont Kiara this August 1st).
When we arrived, Nadia’s Picture Show was already performing with the crowd already warmed up and enjoying the tunes. Crowd turnup was really good, with the venue nearly full and with more people trickling in.
Rhythm of Unity Concert is organized by eBlitz Communication Sdn. Bhd. cooperating with Mahaka Entertainment Indonesia. The concert will be held at the Bukit Jalil Stadium carpark on the 23rd of May and will start from 5pm all the way till midnight. Tickets will cost RM55 though, you can purchase them from Axcess Ticketing (http://www.axcess.com.my/s_ryhthmofunity09.asp?id=3691836967676211263638541123464324642977)

The first XGIG for 2009 was held at Aloha, Melaka on the 7th of March, which is of course, organised by XFM (formerly XFresh FM). Thanks to the free entrance, loads of gig goers packed the venue even before the event started.
I managed to arrive just slightly before 2pm and when the clock struck 2, there was already a long queue outside the entrance to the venue. The entrance is well, kinda cool as it has a beachfront to the side of it, complete with a large swimming pool and coconut trees. The sunny afternoon made it feel like a holiday
To celebrate the launching of their second album titled Teenage Disc Fantastic, Couple held an album launch party at Dewan MCPA on the 27th of December 2008. They were also giving out their albums for free to the first few hundred attendees. You can get their album now for RM20 at Rock Corner and other good music retail outlets.
After a short sound check, The Hollows came out and performed as the first band.
