Here comes Rock The World again, and this time around, it will be called Rock The World Adrenaline, as opposed to year or number. As usual, it will be a full day affair, this time around, with more sideshows and activities involved. Following the trend of the Urbanscapes style, there will be merchandise/clothing booths all around to satisfy your shopping pleasure/needs.

Liyana Fizi‘s album launch showcase was held in the Bentley Music Auditorium on the 11th of September. A wear-stripes-theme fits the “Between the Lines” album launch perfectly!

Before the showcase, the audience was treated to supporting acts. We first saw Narmi on stage belting out soothing songs accompanied by samba-like drums. Tenderfist was up next performing three to 220-802 four songs (interesting music arrangement), I never kept track because of one reason: the digital percussionist. He looked like he was having the time of his life, forgetting everything except him and his music, resulting to me having the time of my life observing his expressions! I checked them out on Facebook and they have bizarre names for their CompTIA 220-802 band members. Anyway I found out Napoleon Polarbear is the name of the digital percussionist. Funny!

The White Shoes & The Couples Company, celebrated as one of the “best indie pop band to call Jakarta home” by will play alongside local band, Khottal and French band Saycet to transport the audience into a different dimension of poetic and mesmerizing soundscapes and melodies.

Formed in 2002, The White Shoes & The Couples company blends 1960’s Burt Bacharach-inspired melodies with winsome indie pop to create a truly unique sound that bring us back to the 1970’s or even to the 1930’s, with charming, distinct melodies and orchestration. Singing in both English and Indonesian, they have been named “one of the Top 25 bands on MySpace” by Rolling Stone, featured in Times Magazine and praised by Pitchfork.

After 3 long years of gigging and recording, Pesawat finally managed to get all their tracks recorded and mixed into an album. Their debut album, aptly titled Take Off, was launched at Lot 10 2 months back. The album features 13 songs, of which half of it is sung in Bahasa Malaysia and the other half is sung in English.

The album opens up with the captain speaking on the intro track, ‘Take Off’, and you will be brought ears-first, into Pesawat’s style of music with Brand New Day. It has all the characteristics of a ‘Pesawat song’. Catchy intro, feet tapping and hand clapping beat, and then Jipie’s signature singing style. Excuse Me is another song, which will make you tap your feet, or jump to the beat, very ‘The Killers‘ kinda feel mixed in with Pesawat’s musical style.

Singer-songwriter (ah well, singer songwriter musician guitar player) Liyana Fizi recently previewed her solo debut album titled Between The Lines at Bentley Music. Recorded in Bandung, the album features 10 songs (+1 bonus song), sang in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.

The songs on the album are very acoustic-y and smooth, with a jazzy/lounge-ish feel to it. Very suitable for a rainy evening/night, or a relaxing drive around town. The album launch will be on the 11th of September 2011 and will be held at the Bentley Music Auditorium. Entrance is RM35 and you will get a CD as well! Double bang for your buck! Besides getting released in Malaysia and Indonesia, it has been picked up by a Japanese distributor and will also be released in Tokyo and Kobe! Let’s see if Liyana will actually fly over to Japan to promote her album!

LOUDNESS recently paid a visit to KL as part of it’s 30th anniversary celebration. Organised by Clockwork Events, the concert was held on the 24th of July at KL Live, which, coincidentally was the same day as the MTV World Stage event (held i-City this year). This was not a problem at all, because the LOUDNESS fans won’t be going anywhere near i-City on that day anyway.

They thronged and packed the venue as early as 5pm, and soon, there was a group of big bikes parked in front of the venue (mostly those Harley kinda bikes, but there were some touring bikes as well). Distance did not discourage the, as fans from Perlis and Johor Bahru (as well as those from neighboring states) came all the way just to attend the concert.

Local indie singer-songwriter Liyana Fizi announces the showcase and launch of ‘Between The Lines’, her highly anticipated debut solo album.

The event will be held on 11 Sept at Bentley Music Auditorium, The  Curve Mutiara Damansara.

Fans and friends are to enjoy songs from the album, including hit single ‘Light Writing’; and the latest single, Jatuh, which has received high rotation on local airwaves since its 4 August release.
