Paramore Live In KL 2010!

It was a bit weird that Paramore only came to Kuala Lumpur nearly 1 year after they went to Singapore. Shouldn’t they stop by KL before/after their Singapore concert which was on 19 December 2009? Well anyway, after 6 years of touring (according to Hayley Williams, Paramore’s lead vocalist), they managed to make their way to Kuala Lumpur on the 19th of October 2010.

The concert was held at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium (outdoor one, the indoor one is the Putra Stadium) at 8pm. Luckily it rained during the afternoon, so the rock zone fans wouldn’t be standing in the rain when the show started.

Y2K was the opening band and they started playing at about 7.30pm until 8pm. Right after Y2K left the stage, Paramore’s tech crew quickly came on stage to setup the band’s equipment, and every tech guy who came on stage was given a loud cheer by the anxious crowd, who couldn’t wait for Paramore to come on stage.

So, when the crew put on the curtains in front of the stage, everyone knew what was going to happen, and in just about a minute right after the curtains were erected, Hayley and the band appeared on stage and the curtains went down and they went into their first song of the night, Ignorance, followed by Feeling Sorry and That’s What You Get.

After a few more songs, a sofa was brought out and the whole band gathered in front of the stage for the acoustic set, which consisted of songs such as You Ain’t Woman, When It Rains, Where The Lines and Misguided Ghosts. There was a slight technical glitch just towards the end of Misguided Ghosts though, as the sounds were cut off from both the lead and rhythm guitars and as well as Hayley’s microphone, leaving just the bass and drums playing.

Well, that minor glitch didn’t affect the show at all as the band left the mini-acoustic-sofa set after the song, and came back on stage with their electrics.

After Crush crush and Looking Up, Hayley started to introduce the band members one by one. Before going into Only Exception, and prompting the crowd to hold up their light sticks and mobile phones while singing along. The whole stadium was lit up by tiny lights that time and it surely must have been delightful for the band to see the 10,000 strong crowd from the stage.

And then they left the stage, for that compulsory ‘encore’ call, and it took them roughly 3 minutes before appearing on stage again to perform, to the crowd’s delight, Brick by Boring Brick, and then finished the night off with Misery Business.

So yes, after about 18 songs, there was a fireworks + confetti ending!
