Youreka!

Youreka!

Yahoo! Youreka! was held at KL Live Center on the 25th of November 2009. Lucky people who found the tickets through the treasure hunts were treated to goodie bags and a fun night at the KL Live Center. There was a few competitions held early in the night where consolation prizes were Blackberry mobile phones and the grand prizeĀ  for the sumo suit competition finale was a Macbook Air + iPod Touch. They were giving away Blackberry phones like t-shirts! Heck!

Interactive wall installation

Of course, besides the competitions and drinks, there were booths stationed all around the venue. There was this ‘interactive screen/installation’ where graphics or animations would play as you walk across the screen. Most of the people didn’t get to understand how to really interact with the screen though. I was expecting some sort of hand waving or touching the screens to move some objects here and there.

Spray paint wall

The graffiti wall was already nearly fully covered up with graffiti by the time we got there. To help with the graffiti, you can get some stencils to spray Yahoo! logos and some other brand names onto the wall. Oh, and you get a free pair of socks after you leave some paint on the wall.

Inspirational Joni

Inspirational Joni from Indonesia was one of the performers that night, with an interesting rock + dance music.

Crowd

Urbandub

Filipino rock band, Urbandub‘s performance was a real head turner that night. The band’s name sounded something like a jazz/lounge/hiphop band but what they were really a rock/metal band instead! They were just a few days away from launching their 5th album, The Apparition and did perform several songs for the amazed crowd.
