Tokyo Blue‘s debut album, titled A Naked Soul is a wonderful release from a local band. It’s a pure instrumental album, with no vocals. Hiro takes the bass guitar, Ywenna plays the keyboards and Josh on the drums.
The album starts out with Spark Of Life, which has a darkish sounding intro before moving into the main solo. The band starts to show off their own blend of jazz in Urban Rats, with piano versus bass duet/solo in the middle of it.

The Hot Toys MMS 103 X-Men Origins Wolverine is a pretty unique figure by Hot Toys. Firstly, if features a head sculpt sculpted by Kojun (who just recently joined Hot Toys and has done the head sculpt for the John O’Conner figure). The best thing about this figure is no doubt the head sculpt.
It is a pretty expensive figure, considering that it does not come with any set of extra clothes or weapons. It all comes in just one tray (I was a bit stunned when I opened it, as I am used to double trays). It comes with a dog tag, complete with WOLVERINE engraved on it, 2 pairs of spare hands, 1 pair of hand connectors and the stand.
The Casio Protrek PRG-130 (or PRW-130 with atomic sync, PAW1500 in USA) is a ABC watch, meaning that it comes with altimeter, barometer and compass readings. When showing the barometer (air pressure), it also shows the temperature. It comes in a nice brown box (outer box is a cardboard box, and inside is a wooden panel box) with a very thick manual. The model number for this one is PRG-130-1VDR (more info here: ).
Besides the standard timekeeping, alarm and stop watch features, it also has a tide and moon graph. Not to mention that the battery is recharged using the solar cells on the face of the watch. On the “home” screen, you can set the top display to either display a 24 hour barometer graph (data captured and saved every 2 hours) or a day (MON/TUE) display, toggled by using the Adjust button.

Brand Builder Series III this year was held at the KL Hilton (KL Sentral) on the 8th of December 2009. The keynote speaker for this year was Tan Sri Dato” Dr Lim Kok Wing, founder of LimKokWing University of Creative Technology. The title for the night was Global Branding: Get Going.
Dozens of SME and industry leaders and their staff attended this event, taking the opportunity to expand their network and meet new business partners. The event was organised by the Branding Association of Malaysia (BAM), which had it”s logo revamped by none other than Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing himself. This year event and keynote speaker really benefits on everyone in the SME industry, as the branding guru himself talks and gives expert advice on, well, branding.
The MINDstyle LIFEstyle featuring Michael Lau art exhibition was held at the Zinc Art Space at Jalan Maarof Bangsar (just beside the Indian Temple) from the 11th to 19th of December.
Among the art pieces shown at the exhibition were Michael Lau’s Gardener vinyl toys and also his art pieces. There were also the Godfather vinyl toy on exhibition and on sale as well. The Gardener pieces were going for about RM585 a pop, while the Godfather was approximately RM850 a pop. From what I heard, the art pieces were selling for around USD$30,000 each.
Rantai.Art was a hit in December 2006 when their first event successfully caught public attention. Due to overwhelmed response by the public, the team then decided to make this as an annual art event until today.
This year the event will be held on the 18th – 20th Dec 2009 at The Red Bungalow, Jalan Ampang ( behind Nasi Kandar Pelita KLCC ). There will be music performances, art exhibition ( photography, painting, sculpture and etc ), art seminar as well as creative bazaar, where you can see the youth selling artistic merchandise outside the bungalow. The event is open to public from 10am – 10pm.
The Observatory came down to Kuala Lumpur for the launch of their 4th album, titled Dark Folke. They performed a 2 hour set (which was split into 2) at KL”s finest jazz bar, No Black Tie on the 27th of December 2009.
It was a perfect setting for the band”s darkish, moody and ambient music, this time without a drumset. The drum set was replaced by a single drum with drum brushes and felt tipped drum sticks and was accompanied by acoustic guitars, keyboards, bass guitar, an electric upright bass, and a violin bow played on a guitar.
