Akon‘s concert was supposed to be held earlier this year but got postponed to the 26th of October 2009. Well, the day arrived and Akon came and delivered. The venue? Sunway Lagoon surf pool, which was completely drained out of course. Marctensia, was of course the organiser, who previously did a great job of bringing in Jason Mraz . They were also the ones organizing the Beyonce concert which was scheduled to happen the day after Akon’s one, but sadly, it was cancelled due to, well, reasons that we all well know off.
It rained quite heavily during the afternoon but the rain stopped at about 6.30pm, allowing fans to queue up and enter the venue, passing through the mandatory security checks. The front of the pitt zone (which was the front of the stage) was already fully packed by the time I went in, which was about 8pm. There was also the VIP/Chivas zone with huts and behind that, was the beach zone. All of a sudden, it started to drizzle but this did not hamper the fans from coming in. Those who already in stood by their places, awaiting the concert to start.
The DiGi Music LIVE Concert that has been postponed due to The All-American Rejects‘ lead singer’s accident will be happening this coming weekend, 31st October 2009 at the Car Park A of the Bukit Jalil Outdoor Stadium (same venue as the other Bukit Jalil gigs).
Of course, The All American Rejects will be the headlining act, but our local boys, Disagree, Pop Shuvit and One Buck Short will be the opening bands on that day. Show will start at 6pm onwards, expected to end around 10pm, just in time to catch the LRT home before it stops operating.
How to attend? Well, this is a free event, but you will need tickets. You can head over to the DiGi Music Unlimited counters at GSC 1 Utama, TGV escalator at Sunway Pyramid, or at the Lifestyle Avenue at Sungei Wang Plaza.
Customers who have collected their free concert tickets for the October 10th event do not need to exchange them for new ones.

Tokyo Blue launched its debut album titled ‘The Naked Soul’ at Groove Junction on the 8th of October 2009. The venue was nice and cozy for their new school jazz-styled music (or rather, contemporary jazz? or indie-jazz, or jazz rock?). Tokyo Blue is purely an instrumental band, made up of 3 really talented musicians, namely Hiroaki Maekawa on the bass, Ywenna Carollin on the piano and Joshua Maran on the drums. Individually, they really excel in the instruments they play, and put together, heck, it’s like 3 solo musicians trying to outwit each other in a competition.
They kicked off the night with the first song from the album, Spark Of Life. More songs from the album were played including Beautiful War, Balance and The Naked Soul. The jazz they played wasn’t the relaxed jazz with a lounge feeling, it was more of an upbeat jazz that won’t make you sleepy. There was a short break after that in which people could purchase their albums, retailing at RM29.90 each and comes with a free A3-sized poster.
The Ara Music Fest Vol. 2 is a mini music festival held in collaboration with the KL International Bike Rally 2009. It will be held this coming weekend at the Mon’t Kiara Equestrian Club The event organisers are citing ‘Woodstock’ but I’m not sure why. It will be a 2 day event with performances starting as early as 2pm and the day ending at midnight with the starlight (open-air) cinema.
Among the bands playing are Pure Vibracion, Republic of Brickfields, The Rhaman, Khottal, Pesawat, and the headlining act will be Search. Besides music, you can find other interesting stuff such as art, t-shirts, accessories, auctions and of course, bike showcases.
It is not free though, tickets are kinda cheap though. You can buy a 1 day ticket for RM20 and a 2 day ticket for just RM35.

Seven. Meaning a band with 7 band members?
No, they don’t consist of 7 members with several brass instruments. They are 5 piece band with just 1 brass instrument, the saxophone which is played by Imran. Joshua Maran handles the drums, Arrmand has his hands on the guitars, Timothy sessions on the bass and the flamboyant afro-haired Bo (Bo Amir Iqram) takes on lead vocals and guitars. Imran actually joined the band later, after being invited to join after the band witnessed him performing on the keyboards in a heavy metal band.
Despite being less than 7 band members, they all look drastically different from one another, Bo with a nice afro and Joshua with super thick dreadlocks. They are also diversified in terms of racial background with some members being from mixed heritage.
Seven is in fact 7 years old this year, being incorporated 7 years ago in 2002 where all of them were just secondary students. They started experimenting and exploring with 7th chords, picking up new scales and evolving their music along the way. It has been quite a long way from 2002 till 2009 but they stuck together, writing a lot of songs along the way while having tons of fun together.
The DW6900MS-1 is a stealth DW6900 model with a the words and the EL button on the case in black (or in other words, not inked/printed). This was released as part of the “Military Inspired” series. Other models in the series are the Frogman GW200MS, Mudman G9000MS and the classic DW5600MS (which I will be acquiring real soon).
