Baybeats 2009 (Singapore)

Posted by kenchill. Categories Events, Flyers

Baybeats

Baybeats makes its eight appearance this year at the Esplanade, Singapore which will be held from August 28th till the 30th. Baybeats is an alternative music festival and this year’s event will feature 34 bands from all over the region as well as bands from Australia, UK and the USA. 3 of our local bands will be performing there, namely Estranged, Love Me Butch and Silent Scenery.

Some of them will be performing twice a day (afternoon slot and night slot) so yeah, do catch them and give them our support! Bands will perform at 3 different locations around the Esplanade, which is the Outdoor Theatre, Powerhouse and the Concourse.

Besides featuring lots of bands over a 3 day span at an amazing venue, the other amazing thing is that admission is FREE! Yes, another reason why you should go there eh. Not only you can enjoy rock music, there will be slower, chill out music as well as DJ sets later in the night.

Well, this is an event you can attend if you are bored with the lack of events and concerts during Bulan Ramahdan (don’t worry, performances will start at 6pm). You can still make it back to Malaysia for Merdeka, or you can spend the long weekend over at Singapore, up to you!

Among some of the Singaporean bands you can catch there are The Great Spy Experiment which released their debut album 2 years ago and had played at many international music festivals. There’s also Opposition Party (music band, not political faction) which is a punk band which has played alongside with bands such as Megadeth, Biohazard and Holy Moses. There will be tons of Singaporean bands there!

USA will be represented by Chris Collingwood (of power-pop band Fountains of Wayne) and also Anberlin while the UK will be represented by Ally Ker, a singer-sonwriter from Scotland.

Hong Kong goth-glam band Velvette Vendetta will be there as well as Taken By Cars and The Ambassadors from the Phillipines, Tabasco from Thailand and also RNRM from Indonesia.

The performances will all start in the evenings and will end around midnight. As the bands will perform simultaneously at 3 different locations around the venue, so make sure you planned your schedule nicely to catch your favorite act.
