Monash Music Festival

The Monash Music Festival (MMF) organized by Monash University Students’ Association (MUSA) is designed to develop the undiscovered talents in Monash University Sunway Campus (MUSC) and to promote them to the local music community.

Two main aims of the MMF are, to provide an engaging platform to showcase MUSC talent to the local music scene and also to expose MUSC community to Malaysia’s local acts. MMF will have performance selection ranging from rock, jazz, hip-hop and even percussion, MUSC is set to pulsate with the beats and rhythm of our local homegrown acts.

It was held at the Monash Sunway campus on the 25th of April and it started in the afternoon. We managed to get there at around 7pm, of which, Bus Company was already playing (I just missed Jin Hackman I think).

According to the very friendly Ms Nurul Najmi who was was Head of Publicity for the MMF, people only started coming in when the sun was setting as it was super hot during the afternoon. She was happy though, as they managed to meet their target ticket sales (so I guess they didn’t make a loss for this event).

Prema Yin was up next after Bus Company.

The crowd really liked Prema Yin and her uniqueness, but still at this time, the crowd numbers at the stage tent was quite low, a rough estimate would be around 50-70 heads.

After Prema Yin, Crossing Boundaries, a Monash student band took stage.

Antithesis was all out for the night, with all band members decked out in Metallica t-shirts, they played 3 Metallica songs, starting out with The Four Horsemen, and then into Seek & Destroy before ending their set with, what else, Master of Puppets.

And the crowd were loving it like mad. Antithesis was the band who made the crowd rocked the hardest that night.
