One more post before March ends! XFM‘s (no more XFresh FM guys, XFM from now on. XFM!) XGIG Johor Bahru leg was held just 2 weeks ago at City Plaza, which only allows music events to be held on Sundays, as there are corporate people working in the building from Mondays to Saturdays. As with the one held in JB previously, this XGIG is also held at CT Cafe & Sports Arena.
Loy, the XGIG Boy, was courteous enough to invite me to the event and let me ride together with the crew (and the Bittersweet boys) on the bus, saving me from driving all the way down and back again

KoRn did not dissapoint during Sunburst 2009. They were scheduled to play at midnight, but managed to appear on stage at 11.45pm to hundreds of fans, calling out “We want KoRn, We want Korn”. Jonathan Davis was there, Munky was on the right side of the stage on the guitars, and Fieldy, on the left side with the bass guitar.
We got a ‘How are you guys doing?‘ from Jon Davis, and his response after the crowd cheered was, ‘We didn’t flying 20 motherfucking hours just to hear this‘. Fuck yeah!
Well, this is quite unexpected and really last minute.
It is with sincere regret that we announce the cancellation of Erykah Badu’s performance at Sunburst KL09. Due to personal reasons unbeknown to Pineapple Concerts, Erykah Badu’s party has confirmed that she must give Kuala Lumpur a pass.
Due to the last minute cancellation, Pineapple Concerts was unable to get a replacement in time for Sunburst KL09 on 21st March.
Our deepest apologies to all Erykah Badu fans. And all the best to Erykah Badu.
By the way, you can check out the program schedule:
Well, the logo looks like it was adopted from American Idol. But anyway, the Satu Suara event will be held at Central Park Avenue (the place with the brick road), One Utama.
There will be lots of activities such as skateboarding, paintball (hmmm), silat, indie fashion, capoeira, futsal, and treasure hunt, among others.
Bands who will be performing are Meet Uncle Hussain, Silent Scream, Couple, Laila’s, OAG, Decma and the Could Have Been and Sharp Shooter.
According to my sources, bands will start performing from 12 onwards, but the event itself will start at 10am. I tried visiting http://www.satusuara.com/, but it seems that the website is still under construction.
Not going for Sunburst? Fret not. Head to the Eastern Metal Fest instead! A plethora of metal bands will be playing such as REVENGE, Sick Society, Dark Revo, Ass A Hell and Reptilia, amont others.
It will be happening at Paul’s Place, on the 21st of March, starting from 2pm onwards. Tickets are priced at RM15 each.
The first XGIG for 2009 was held at Aloha, Melaka on the 7th of March, which is of course, organised by XFM (formerly XFresh FM). Thanks to the free entrance, loads of gig goers packed the venue even before the event started.
I managed to arrive just slightly before 2pm and when the clock struck 2, there was already a long queue outside the entrance to the venue. The entrance is well, kinda cool as it has a beachfront to the side of it, complete with a large swimming pool and coconut trees. The sunny afternoon made it feel like a holiday
Maxis is finally offering the iPhone3G plans after a very long lag compared to other countries. Anyway, don’t think that the phone is free.
For the very basic 6-months RM80 plan, you need to pay RM2,540 upfront for the iPhone 8GB. 12-months x RM100 plan, it will be RM1,900 and for the 24-months RM100 plan, it is reduced to RM1,510 for the iPhone 8GB. The 16GB models are around RM300 extra.
If you don’t want to pay for the phone, you can opt for the 24-months RM375 plan, where you can get the iPhone 3G 8GB for RM0 and the 16GB version for RM260. So, if you are topping out at RM300 monthly, that’s a good place to head. Or you can just sell the iPhone off anyway.
Book yours here and http://www.maxis.com.my/iphone/index.asp and be invited to the official launch on the 20-22nd of March at the KL Convention Center. I’m not too sure when will you be able to pick-up the phone though.
