February 2009

Yep, that’s right folks, KoRn will be playing for this year’s Sunburst. So, no Coldplay, no The Prodigy, but it’s Korn. Erykah Badu will also be coming as well. Besides that, the 2 new artists will be Skye and Naturally 7.

According to Pineapple Concerts, bringing in Coldplay is not viable as their rates are too expensive.

If you missed the early bird tickets, don’t fret cause if you are an XPAX user, you can get 1 ticket free when you purchase 1 ticket at full price. So that makes a ticket about RM100-ish.

UPDATE: Check out more pictures of KoRn here http://www.lifeinkl.com/2009/03/23/korn-sunburst-2009/

The Sunburst 2009 band lineup has been updated. Butterfingers will be playing one more show along with some of last year’s acts including Hujan, Meet Uncle Hussain, Estranged, Gerhana Ska Cinta and Reza Salleh, among others.

First timers would be Estrella, Bunkface (heck, they played ROTW 8 and now Sunburst!), TWKUA, Pesawat and many others.

Confirmed international artistes would be Nidji, Andra & The Backbone, Maliq & D’essential with N.E.R.D. being the only confirmed non-Asian artist.

Every Album Ever

Posted by kenchill. Music

Do check out this website which features a hilarious play on the structure of a song list on an album. This structure is somewhat true for most albums released on the market, especially mainstream ones.

As I was flipping through the newspapers yesterday, I saw an article about the lead singer of Meet Uncle Hussain, Lan. The title was shocking enough, ‘No looks, sounds good, the ‘late’ Lan‘.

Heck, with a simple printing/type error, the ‘late’ can become a late and it would be insulting, if not downright disturbing. And Lan is not that old. The writer decides to add more salt to the injury with this sentence ‘The singer, with no looks but sounds good, certainly commanded the attention of the audience.

Well, it looks like the author does not only dislikes Meet Uncle Hussain, but downright hates them. Read the online version here (if you want): http://www.nst.com.my/Current_News/NST/Sunday/National/2480177/Article/index_html

If you manage to read the whole article, the last sentence is no doubt the nail in the coffin (pun intended).

A more exciting read would be about Lan fainting: http://www.murai.com.my/article/default.asp?article_id=3363&c=2&s=3

Do check out this video clip and take note of the blazing solo at approximately 3:05

I just bought a copy of their EP and will do a brief write up on it shortly. It’s called Legends of Rock ‘n Roll and is priced at RM15. You can get it at the RiceCooker shop at The Annexe, Central Market.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Was browsing YouTube for a while just now and came across the X-Games 14 (2008) skateboard street session. Session 3 (the ledge + rail) just blew my mind and I thought it was good to share it with you guys. The first onslaught, 6 back to back grinds/slides on the rail. Insane. Not to mention all the other insane tricks the skateboarders threw down the double-set, rail and ledge. Ryan Sheckler is insane.

Couple Van

Hey hey!

To celebrate the launching of their second album titled Teenage Disc Fantastic, Couple held an album launch party at Dewan MCPA on the 27th of December 2008. They were also giving out their albums for free to the first few hundred attendees. You can get their album now for RM20 at Rock Corner and other good music retail outlets.

After a short sound check, The Hollows came out and performed as the first band.

Konsert Suara Gaza

Suara Gaza

There you go, another Gaza related gig (not to say that its bad or what). You will have to fork out some cash for the tickets, but 20 bands in a 10 hour duration will definitely make the money worth it (considering there aren’t any delays that plague the event). I’m not sure how much of the ticket value will be put into the Gaza fund though.

Event Details:
Date: 28 February 2009
Time: 3pm – 1am
Venue: Orange Club, Jalan Sultan Ismail
Tickets: RM25/RM45

They Will Kill Us All Secret Episodes Launch Party

As some of you might have already know, They Will Kill Us All recently released their debut album titled, Secret Episodes (well, they were throwing it out and selling it during Rock The World 8).

To celebrate the launch of their album, they will host an album launch party at Zouk KL on the 6th of February 2009. Party starts at 10pm. Twilight Actiongirl will be spinning a DJ set and TWKUA will definitely perform live as well.

You can also purchase their album at the venue. I’m not so sure about the cover charges though.
