Butterfingers Interview

Emmet & Loque

Ready Steady Go invited me for an exclusive interview with Butterfingers just recently to help publicize the upcoming Sesi Istana Budaya. And so, I met Emmet and Loque. Kadak and Loko were not there as they were working.

I’m sure most of you already know about Emmet going to Canada to pursue his career so Butterfingers have to be on a hiatus until nobody knows

Sesi Istana Budaya

We’re about to announce a big news for all of you who has been supporting Butterfingers for the past 12 years.

Butterfingers will have 2-day shows (4 different sets) at Istana Budaya (http://www.istanabudaya.gov.my) on 17th & 18th January 2009. It will be the final full line-up (Loque, Emmett, Kadak & Loko) for year 2009, before Emmett & his family leaves for Canada somewhere this year and Loque will  be leaving for Boston at the end of this month (He will only comes back at the end of this year).

2008 has shown a level of success in the local independent music scene that has put Butterfingers on par with their more commercial counterparts. The Malaysian independent music scene has never before garnered this kind of attention and fan base, as is proof in the massive press coverage, radio airplay and television appearances local indie bands are currently achieving.

If 2008 was the year of ‘discovering’ the local independent music scene, then 2009 will be the year of cementing its arrival. We firmly believe that the last step in this journey of getting our music fully accepted is to take it off the small stage and onto the professional stage.

Rock The World 8

Rock The World 8 was held at the car park of Stadium Merdeka on the 20th of December 2008. There wasn’t any Rock The World at 2007, so this Rock The World was somewhat very much anticipated by everyone.

Well, not really ‘everyone’, judging from the number of comments on the Junk Blog, until Jason Lo actually came around to post some comments there as well. Most of the criticism was about the line up, some saying how stale it was, some saying that most of the bands are ‘cronies’
