I managed to get my 3rd tattoo done yesterday at Black Cat Tattoo studio. The studio is located at the Asian Avenue (top floor) at Sunway Pyramid.

The design of the tattoo was inspired by the lightning bolt tattoo on Mike Vallely’s arm. Ah_mei helped out on the inner tattoo design in which she added a lightning striking towards the ground, shattering it. She then ran it through an image editing program where a gradient was added and after I saw the gradient and color tones, the decision to make the tattoo was sealed.

I then changed the lightning strike design into a lone cactus standing in the desert and the cracks in the ground was changed into the roots of the cactus. This turned the picture into a cross section of a desert. The cactus’ green color will give more contrast to the whole picture. Blue on the skies, green in the center and yellow/brown on the bottom.

It took around 3 weeks from submitting the initial design to Kevin (one of the founders of the studio) to previewing the sketch and to making an appointment to finishing the tattoo on the appointment day. A RM50 deposit was required for the sketch and to secure an appointment, but you can do all the changes and alterations you want to the design/sketch before it actually goes onto your skin. Once it’s there, it’s there. So, if you don’t like anything, you gotta voice it out. Much better than regretting for the rest of your life.

I got my tattoo sketched out and done by Kevin, one of the founders of the studio. it was definitely not as painful as making my dreadlocks. The pain started to sting as the tattoo was nearing its completion as the whole area has already been stung by the needle. The real shocker came when the alcohol was sprayed on, as I had to endure a strange pain feeling where my whole arm was numb and the whole tattoo was scorching like a fire was burning inside of it. The pain subsided in about 10 seconds, but it provided a good rush.

After 4 hours, it turned out great and there you have it, my 3rd tattoo.
