When we attended the launch event at Ruums, we were given a copy of melodica’s demo CD.

They were the first band performing (when I heard them outside, I thought they were Deja Voodoo Spells) for that event and the guitarist’s solos were fluidly fast and melodically (lol, pun intended) good. I think they performed all 3 songs which were on the free demo CD.

Heck, free demo CDs? Where did they come up with the money to do that? Upon opening the CD cover (simple cardboard sleeve), there was a white sheet of paper advertising the LimKokWing Sound & Music Design Academy. There’s where the money for the producing came from! Anyway, free publication for LKW and also melodica, no complaints there! We always love free CDs and music.

The most noticeable song on the demo CD was Wadi. It has a very nice classical instrument sounding intro (which was executed flawlessly during the gig), going right into the main lick and it’s full throttle from there onwards.

We met at the TV show Blast Off! season 2. 3 of us (Fariq,Ajx & Romeor) were contestants. FARIQ was in the band 5MINUTES ALONE, AJX was in the band SOLSTA & THE SPLATTERS(he is still in it), MEOR was in the band THE EXILERS.

Few weeks after Blast Off, Fariq & Meor started to hangout. Then we both moved to LimKokWing University and started to Jam. We needed a bassist to jam and we found Nesh in LimKokWing, he was our senior in the same faculty. Hence the original 3-piece Melodica member.

After few shows, we noticed that we realy need another guitarist. Fortunately, Ajx who we knew earlier from Blast Off registered as a student in LimKokWing in the same faculty. Ajx is also a mentor to Fariq when he was young (during the glorious days of THE SPLATTERS).Hence Melodica!.

Our music is simply a mixture of different influences from rock, blues, progressive, to god knows what. We’re just trying to create good, HONEST music, the kind that we ourselves listen to and are influenced by.

Do check out their AMP profile page, they have uploaded their songs there as well.

I’ve been trying to get my hands on Melodica’s album if any. Heard the track “standing next to you” over couple of weeks back and have been trying to get hold of it ever since. Any particular place i should be trying? Many thanks.

Hi. I’m not sure whether they have an album in stores since the demo CD is probably sponsored by LimKokWing. We’ll try to ask around Rock Corner and other music stores. Thanks for dropping by LifeinKL. :)
